Experiment 3: Data Transformation

This project blends coding with art, translating class data on pulse, breathing, and blinking into dynamic visuals. Using shapes and lines, we crafted abstract forms that flow and transform, capturing the essence of these organic rhythms. Designed on A4 paper, the zine-poster folds into a compact, handheld format, making it accessible yet unique, with vivid colors and a cover that invites exploration. This smaller, tactile format draws viewers in with its intimate, story-like unfolding.

We crafted a pocket-sized zine that unfolds into a striking A4 poster, intentionally designed for versatility and impact. Inside, our individually designed elements — vibrant colors representing each of us — stand out boldly against a sleek black background, blending harmoniously to create a dynamic visual experience. The compact fold makes it easy to carry, allowing it to be kept close and accessible. Once unfolded, the zine transforms into a vibrant poster, showcasing the rhythm, personality, and individuality of our data-driven designs. This dual-purpose format perfectly balances intimacy with bold expression, embodying both portability and presence.

Reflecting on the experience, designing 10 cohesive, engaging coded visuals was a fulfilling challenge. The move from A3 to A4 added a charm, capturing attention with its compact and personal feel. Despite the challenges, we completed the project on time, making it a worthwhile endeavor.
